About Eclipse 3D Systems

In June of 2007, Eclipse 3D Systems was split from Graphic Media Research (GMR) both of which are sole proprietorships owned by Dr. Monte Ramstad.  The separation allows more flexibility in managing the two businesses.

Eclipse 3D Systems manages the Eclipse 3D product line and the associated intellectual property.

About Graphic Media Research

GMR was founded in 1997 to develop products in the field of digital stereo imaging.  GMR has specialized in finding creative solutions to long standing problems in stereo imaging.  Their first product was the Pokescope® stereoscope for viewing stereocards of any size especially on computer screens.  This stereoscope design is perhaps the first significant adaptation of the Holmes stereoscope to plastic materials and the first successful stereoscope based on pure prisms.  The traditional Holmes stereoscope was made of wood, metal and glass magnifying lenses.

About Monte Ramstad

Dr. Monte Ramstad received his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996.  He also earned B.S. degrees in mathematics and chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.  He studied semi-conductors as a graduate student. After receiving his Ph.D., he worked for a short time on the development of blue laser diodes before founding GMR.
